Housing Societies (GHS / RWA)

Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Indian citizen with valid ID proof (Aadhaar)
Residential property owner (NOT tenants)
Valid electricity connection in own name
Sufficient shadow-free roof space (~10 sq m per kW)
Bank account seeded with Aadhaar (mandatory for DBT)
No existing solar subsidy claimed for the property
ALMM-listed solar panels & MNRE-empanelled vendor

Tenants are NOT eligible. The electricity connection and property ownership must be in the applicant's name. Subsidy is paid via DBT to the property owner's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.

Application Process

Register on National Portal

Visit pmsuryaghar.gov.in and register with your state, DISCOM, electricity consumer number, mobile, and email.

Step 2

Apply for Rooftop Solar

Login and submit application with required documents and proposed system capacity.

Step 3

Get DISCOM Feasibility Approval

DISCOM verifies technical feasibility — usually approved within 15 days.

Step 4

Choose Vendor & Install System

Select a registered vendor from the portal. Installation uses ALMM-listed TATA Power Solar panels.

Net Metering & Inspection

Apply for net meter after installation. DISCOM inspects and generates the commissioning certificate.

Subsidy Credited via DBT

Submit bank details — subsidy is credited directly to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account within 30 days.

Uttar Pradesh State Subsidy

Extra ₹30,000 from UPNEDA

Residents of Uttar Pradesh get an additional state-level subsidy on top of the central PM Surya Ghar amount — stackable, paid via DBT.

UPNEDA Solar Rooftop Top-up

Under the UP state policy, residential rooftop solar installations receive an additional ₹30,000 subsidy disbursed by UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency).

Eligibility, applicant profile and documentation are aligned with the central PM Surya Ghar scheme — one application form serves both.
