Solar systems are nearly maintenance-free — but "nearly" still needs attention. Here is the simple seasonal routine that keeps a Radion install at >97% efficiency.
Monthly visual check
Glance at your panels from the ground. Look for visible dust, bird droppings, or shading from new construction. Open the monitoring app — if generation has dropped more than 10% versus last year for the same month, log a service ticket.
Quarterly cleaning
Dust is the single biggest performance loss in India. A soft cloth and clean water are enough. Avoid pressure washers and detergents — they damage the anti-reflective coating. Best done early morning when the glass is cool.
Pre-monsoon inspection
Check that DC and AC cables are intact, terminals tight, and that the earthing is solid. Loose connections + rain = inverter trips. Our AMC includes one full pre-monsoon visit a year.
Annual deep service
We thermally image the array to spot weak modules, audit inverter performance logs, re-torque structure bolts, and verify all SPDs and breakers. Takes about 90 minutes and is included in every Radion AMC.
When to call us immediately
Inverter fault code, generation drop of >20%, any visible cracked panel, burning smell from any junction box, or a tripped MCB that won't reset. We respond pan-India within 24 hours.
